Lessons from the Ministry of Jesus

January 7. 2006

Hello again after a short “sabbatical” from the newsletter:

I hope the Holidays were refreshing for you from both a spiritual and health perspective. I was certainly ready for the down time.

This is the time of year when our outlook on life and building an online business should be at it’s best. There is truly something awesome about the start of a New Year that renews our energy and raises our hopes for a better future.

I think it is the fact that the end of a year is a true demarcation in our lives where we can close the book, so to speak, on the previous year. When you think about it, there are few times in our lives other than at the end of a year when we do have a true “stop” and then we can “start all over" – so to speak.

Yes, the previous year is over with all of the good and bad that happened as we built our online businesses. We must focus on our achievements during 2005 and continue to build on the successes we experienced. This is always easy to do.

But we must also analyze and learn from the mistakes that hampered our progress building our on-line business as hard as they are to own up to sometimes.

  • Maybe we did not take action because we were busy watching too much TV or surfing the net

  • Maybe we started a project but did not follow through with it

  • Maybe we tried to do too many things and did not focus on one to achieve success.

Whatever the shortcomings we had building our business last year, we must be honest about why we did not achieve what we wanted in our lives. But here is the key:

Once we know why we did not achieve success, resolve to make

changes in your life and then let your failures GO!

Don’t dwell on your mistakes. Learn from them yes, but don’t let them rule your thoughts. As you learn in the Biblical Guide to Internet Riches, your thoughts, good or bad will lead either to success or failure in life. Always, always focus on good and positive thoughts.

What can we learn from the life of Jesus that will help us now as we make our plans for the coming year? Let’s look at the ministry of Jesus for some guidance.

Jesus chose 12 disciples to pass along His teachings to. Not 4 or 8 or 25, but 12. He had a specific number in mind as His goal. How did He get them? He did not set up a table under a tree and wait for people to come along and ask them to join Him. He went out and sought particular people to join Him.

Take this simple example and apply it to your planning for online success. First, have a specific plan in mind. Set your goals on what you want to achieve All too often people jump in with the first program they see to make money online without a plan for success. The result is that they join the 90% - 95% of people who do not make money online.

The second teaching point is that you must take action. You must not sit and wait for success to beat down your door. You must do as the Bible tells us in Matthew 7: 7-8:

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you:

For whoever asks shall receive, whoever seeks finds and whoever knocks it shall be opened.”

The Bible tells us we must take action if we are to obtain what we want in life. It does not say to have others give us what we need or that we are owed anything. It is up to us to get what we want in life.

Here are some specific recommendations for you to help make 2006 your year for achieving the online success you desire:

  1. Look back at 2005 and see what you did well and not so well. Focus on improving what you did well and changing what you did not do so well.

  2. Take time this week to develop your goals and the plans for achieving them.

  3. Follow the guidance in Matthew 7: 7-8 and TAKE ACTION!

Finally, heed the advice of St Paul in his letter to the Philippians 4:8 where he tells us:

“Finally, my brothers, your thoughts should be wholly directed to all that is true, all that deserves respect, all that is honest, pure admirable, decent, virtuous or worthy of praise.”

Mark
